About IQ COLOUR™

The IQ Colour™ Team represents over 25 years of printing color science, hands-on testing, and technical research combined with a vision to achieve the highest quality color output at the lowest cost of production. Our approach and understanding of the limitations inherently built into today’s color separation techniques has enabled us to address production challenges that made implementing promising technologies such as GCR (Gray Component Replacement) methods ineffective and inconsistent.

Many production professionals believe that adjusting editorial color separations using GCR and UCA (Undercolor Additions) not only improve overall color quality but actually lower production costs by using less color ink and when properly applied, also reduces black ink requirements to achieve better consistency on press. Added benefits include shorter make ready times, and faster drying times due to the thinner layer of ink which is also better suited to lighter weight paper stocks such as newsprint.

The IQ Colour™ solution delivers a new image rendering science and addresses key challenges of today’s GCR/UCA approach with tools that meet the needs of both editorial and advertising workflows. IQ Colour™ components make RGB to CMYK conversions for image files and include similar tools that enable ink saving adjustments CMYK to CMYK for supplied advertising materials.

The Color of Money

IQ Colour™ solutions help you achieve better color faster, while using less ink. Automatic conversions and color separations that can even be done as batch processes applied to consistent color standards will shorten production time and save material costs.

In this typical newspaper example the image on the left represents an original file separated to standard SWOP specifications. The center image is the same file run with lighter 80% black. The image on the right is the same image separated using IQ Colour™ tools which produce an image that better matches the creative’s intent with improved detail, but neutralizes the gray and uses far less ink in final output.
